Every evening, coming home from work (in the mornings due to numerous one way streets my route is slightly different) I drive along rows and rows of grey buildings that neither the bright coloured clothes drying on the narrow balconies, nor the many satellite dishes, white dots placed as if part of an art installation, could ever hope to brighten up. And every evening I remember the man who more than a year ago, threw himself from the fifth floor of a building, covered in petrol in flames for good measure. He had scribbled two words only on a sheet of paper torn out of a school exercise book : "forgive me". As if he was the one we should forgive and not every thing else.

Senlis, 5 juin

Voyage triste.

It's Tuesday June the 5th and we are again on the road, but on the way back. Strange these feelings one gets...Senlis, 3.39pm, on the side of the road a maintenance man lies dead, just got hit by a passing truck. My thoughts go to his wife, about to receive the news on the phone. A sad trip indeed.

DO YOU LIKE SPICY THINGS Dylan Whitman Waller

We had been driving for miles without a word. Having left the city behind I opted to avoid the motorway to show how I felt about the fraudulent toll system. The road meandered through the countryside between fields in bloom and some still bare. I rested my hand on her thigh and she covered it with her left hand. As I briefly turned to her, I saw she was crying quietly, tears just rolling down her cheeks. I tightened my grip slightly. She was sniffing. We both knew our story was coming to an end, that once back at S. we would not see each other anymore, she would go back to live with the man she could not part from. It was as if we shared a tragic tale, one of those mythical adventures where despite the heroes efforts, the resolution is inevitable. No other way is conceivable. As if whatever happens we have no control over the course of events and how they unfold. I hesitated before speeding straight into a tree in a desire to tempt fate.

Paris, 3 juin

STOP. Qui veut un café ?

Tuesday June the 3rd 7:30am we climb on board towards Cergy Pontoise. We are in for a 4 hour drive. A funny feeling in my guts...a bit faint ; but when you gotta go... So here we are : 5 women randomly on their way to Paris. I end up behind glued to the one I like the least! The one every one loves though, the one who does her best for people to be happy, and all that stuff, a saint in other words...I get a rash, and I'm itching all over. So to compensate I fantasise squeezing her into the seat belt...or even better strangling her...choking her, making her swallow her airs and graces of mother superior ...I wish she would shut up this well meaning bitch incapable of respecting the due silence - someone who had such negative thoughts towards me...without saying, just leaving it at that...what a drip, just the kind I hate...and the others take pity on her, enough, can't take anymore, I can't breathe. STOP. Who wants a coffee?

Game over.

What on earth does he want, that fool behind me? Why does he need to stick to me this way? His lights almost blinding me. At first I slow down so he can overtake : no car coming opposite but he keeps behind me. So I accelerate suddenly, though I dislike driving fast, especially at night. He speeds up as well and manages to remain close. I'm beginning to feel scared. How long is he going to be after me this way? And also for what reason? Now and then he switches his headlights on, for no apparent reason, then back to dipped when a car comes the other way. Am I dealing with an insane? A psychopath ? I don't want to know, and any I have no idea what rules guide his behaviour and his little game with the head lights. Luckily I know this route like the back of my hand. So despite being able to bypass V... I choose to go towards the centre of town. He is still right behind me. Then suddenly I step on it. I turn into the first street to my right and  proceed with a u turn in one swift go. He barely manages to pull into the street that I pass him at full speed, I can't even make out his face. I get back to the main road intending to leave it soon enough. Game over.

Fexhe - Voroux Goreux - Bierset et son aéroport.
Trois avions prêts au décollage. Ils me défient.
Youhou...
Fureur de vivre !
3 minutes... et je suis déjà à destination.

Three planes are ready for take off, They challenge me.
So I just go for it, I leave the ground, I fly and I get louder and louder...

Everything is different now. I don’t recognise a thing. Torn down the large warehouse sheltering a whole load of weird machines which used to trigger off our imagination as children but as well threatened to cave in one time or another on top of the unlucky more inquisitive one amongst us. Newly built nasty small houses, and we wonder who on earth would wish to live there, except to leave behind a place more horrible still, noisier and more isolated from everything but filth of all kind.
Wasting his time behind me, exasperated a driver is using his horn.
